MONIQUE LHUILLIER “SCARLET” Lace Wedding Dress
I am selling my “Scarlet” Monique Lhuillier wedding dress, which I wore on my March 2012 wedding. The dress is an original Monique Lhuillier french Alencon ivory lace over champagne pure silk lining. It is an absolutely beautiful, timeless design that will make you the most stunning bride in the world!
Silhouette: Trumpet / A-line Neckline: Sweetheart Preservation Method: This dress has been professionally dry cleaned and stored in a garment bag in a non-smoking, non animal storage space.
I bought the dress unused and unaltered online in September 2011 from oncewed.com from a lady who decided on another dress for her big day so it was brand new. I paid $3,600 instead of the usual $5,000 plus. The dress size indicated on the label is size US6, for which the ML standard sizes are: Bust – 34.5, Waist – 26, Hips-37 inch. The US6 ended up being quite big on me so I had it tailored to fit my measurements below (as I also lost some weight before the wedding - nerves I think!) so it’s effectively more of a size US4 with the alterations. I am a street size US4 and my measurements are as follows: Bust – 33.5 inch Waist – 27 inch Hips – 33 inch Across shoulders – 14.7 inch Weight - 52kg Height – 166 cm (without shoes)
After the alterations, the dress fitted me very well however both the silk and lace layers have give so do not worry if you are slightly bigger than the above measurements. The open back design also allows for a lot of give and room for movement when dancing and sitting – it’s a very comfortable dress that allows you to move freely all day long. I only wore a 1.5 inch heel however you could go higher if you liked as it was still quite long. There is a 8-point bustle which allows you to tie up the dress in 8 areas for dancing. See pictures.
Details of alterations: I used a tailor who specifies in wedding dresses to do my alterations; here are the details of alterations that were made to the original dress US6 (now closer to a US4): -The lace layer was altered to fit my above measurements -Size B bra cups were added to the silk layer to give form (best decision ever however these can easily be removed to create more space) -The silk lining was lowered at the back slightly in order to expose more skin that the lace layer will cover, hence showing off the lace even more - Invisible clip ties were added to the lace layer to keep silk lining in place, especially the straps
The dress will be shipped professionally dry cleaned and stored in a garment bag. I will ship via courier to your home, unless you are in the London or the UK and would like to pick up instead.
